The WSU Vancouver Spring 2005 Honors Lecture Series on "Globalization ofHomelessness and Poverty" presents Mark Lakeman, representative from TheCity Repair Project in Portland, who will discuss "The Village Lives"on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Multimedia Building, Room 16.This series features hopeful ways to address social problems in ourcommunity and the world. Seriously, if you get the chance, check this lecture out. Mark spoke to my American Studies course last spring, and I did a photography project on the City Repair Project last fall. I can tell you wholeheartedly that they do some really amazing things in the community. If you have the time, go to the lecture to see what they're about and what they're doing.
I would attend if I could, but a few VanCougar staffers, along with Brian and I, are heading to San Francisco early tomorrow morning for a national journalism conference.
